Meditation for children
Meditation for Children....Dolphins....
I really enjoy teaching Yoga to children....Most of them have an ability to go very quickly into a relaxed state of mind and body....It is always beautiful to observe them finding their own moments of peace within....even if this only lasts for a few moments, they have touched that feeling and tell me stories when this has been useful for them, perhaps in times when they found life was not so easy to deal with....or when they felt really good and wanted to explore the feeling of feeling good on a deeper level....To me they are great teachers, and I learn from them every day....I am very grateful for being able to spend these moments with them.

Dolphin Meditation
Find yourself a place where you feel comfortable...lying down on the floor, on your bed or sitting in a chair, or on the floor....Make sure your body is relaxed....use your breath to relax your body....every out-breath....release tension in your body, exhale this tension by letting it desolve into the earth or air, where it will be transformed in pure light....Stay here for a while....Now visualise yourself starting to float on water, lovely warm water...you are not afraid of water, because in this visualisation you are a very good swimmer, so nothing can happen to you right now...the water is calm and the sun is shining and warming your body up gently.....Your eyes are closed.....You are feeling very, very relaxed.....Then you feel something against your skin, very gently touching you...you are not scared, because you recognise this touch.....You softly turn your head and you look into some beautiful eyes......You then hear a sort of 'clicking' sound....You recognise this sound....It is your friend the Dolphin, who you have met many times before...The Dolphin knows you, and invites you to hold on to him, so he can gently take you for a playful swim with some of his friends.....You trust the dolphin and his friends, you have played with them before also....Then one dolphin swims in front of you and you hold on to one dolpin to one side and on another dolphin to the other side.....they then gently take you for a playful swim.....You feel so safe and so happy that you start to laugh and feel the drops of water touching the skin on your face....it tickles your face but you are still smiling and holding on to the dolphins...the dolphins are laughing too...they are so happy you came to play with them......You just swim with them for a while, laughing and sometimes talking to them as you go along, they are listening to you all the time...after they have taken you around in the water for quite a few circles it is time to end the game, only for now, because you know you will see them again soon...So, they carefully take you back to the side and help you to turn your body on your back again, by gently pushing their noses against your side...you just let them do this, because you know how gentle they always are with you....You say goodbey to them, and as they wave you goodbye by moving their tails, you are floating again in this calm, warm water.....you listen to your breath again, how peaceful it is, and you feel your tummy rise when you inhale and come down again when you exhale...You feel so good now.....Then you come back out of the water.....You know where you are again now, in the same place where you started to sit, or ly down...You start to give yourself a little stretch, you maybe want to yawn....You gently open your eyes....and when you feel ready you gently come up again.....And you feel so good!!
